“O Relógio” premièred by Luís Madureira and Jeff Cohen

On the 29th of May | 9.30 p.m. at the Auditório Lopes-Graça in Almada, Luís Madureira (voice) and Jeff Cohen (piano) will give the World première of “O Relógio” (“The Clock”) – a piece written by Luís Tinoco setting a poem by Salette Tavares and dedicated to Luís Madureira.

This recital celebrates the 40th anniversary of Luís Madureira’s career with a series of works written by Luís’ friends, all setting words taken from Salette Tavares’ poem cycle “Lex Icon“.

The remaining works in the program were composed by António Sá Dantas, Carlos Caires, Jeff Cohen, João Madureira, José Luís Ferreira and Pedro Moreira.

Music Days Festival @ CCB features two works by Tinoco

Dias_da_Musica2014On the 3rd of May, at the Centro Cultural de Belém in Lisbon, two works composed by Luís Tinoco will be heard: “Short Cuts” (version for clarinet quartet) played by the Quartet Vintage; and “Round Time”, performed by the Orquestra Sinfónica Metropolitana de Lisboa conducted by Jean-Sébastien Béreau.
The two programs, will be featured as part of the Music Days Festival at 02.00 pm (Quartet Vintage) – Sala Fernando Pessoa; and at 10:00 pm (OML) – Large Auditorium.

“Secret Green” in Spain & Czech Republic

On the 2nd and the 6th of May,Secret Green” for alto saxophone and piano (1996) will travel abroad to have its first performances in Spain and Czech republic.
The Spanish performance will be given by the Duo XasonaiP (Hélder Alves, sax; and Cândido Fernandes, piano) at the EuroSax 2014 “I Congreso Europeo de Saxofón” / Ciudad Real, on the 2nd of May, 6.30 p.m. Duo_Xasonaip
The Czech première will be performed by Pavel Fiedler (sax) and Zdeňka M. Košnarová (pno), on the 6th of May, 7.30 p.m., at Atrium na Žižkově, in Prague. Zdenka_Pavel
